Heidi Caberto

Director of Admissions and Parent Coordinator

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Southern California. After college, I met my husband and we had two kids before relocating to Napa.

What were your dreams as a child?

I wanted to be a mom!

Where were you educated?

I received my BA in Psychology from Long Beach State University. I attended the National University teacher credential program. Most recently, I completed my Montessori Infant Toddler training from the North American Montessori Center (NAMC).

How did you learn about the Montessori philosophy?

I met a previous Sunrise administrator who offered me a job as her assistant in the Sunrise office. It was not long before I fell in love with the philosophy and started taking on bigger roles including Administrator, Head toddler teacher and now Primary Director.

How long have you worked at Sunrise?

I have worked at Sunrise for 12 years.

Which age groups have you worked with at Sunrise?

I have worked directly with toddlers and in a support role to all of the Primary program.

Where else have you worked?

I worked in the corporate world in Orange County, in a mortgage and acquisitions company and in a marketing firm. I was a stay home mom when my children were little before coming to work at Sunrise.

What excites you about the Montessori philosophy?

I love being able to witness the learning process in small children and seeing the growth in such a short amount of time. I love seeing how happy and excited the children are to learn and come to school. I am honored to be part of the process.

What is the essence of the Montessori philosophy for you?

The essence of the philosophy for me is fostering independence, especially at the primary age. Our youngest students are so capable and I love seeing the pride in their little faces when they succeed.

What do you love to do outside of school?

I love listening to music and dancing. I love to watch a good movie and spend time with my family and friends.
